Identify 3 organizations focused on CONSERVATION. Refer back to your definition of conservation from yesterday for help. Your list of organizations should include 2 organizations focused on conservation in the United States and 1 that focuses on conservation on a global/international scale. For each organization, describe the purpose/goal along with what it does to try to reach its purpose/goal.
The Wildlife Conservation Society was established in 1895 as the New York Zoological Society. Its mission was, and is, to promote wildlife protection, foster the study of zoology, and create a top-notch zoo.
ReplyDeleteAmong The Nature Conservancy's more innovative conservation approaches is the debt-for-nature swaps. Such transactions ensure biodiversity conservation in exchange for debt owed by a developing country. Such debt-for-nature programs have been successful in many countries including Panama, Peru, and Guatamala.
The ICF works around the world to protect cranes and the habitats on which they depend. Although they focus on cranes, their work is valuable on a wider scale, giving insights into endangered species management, wetland ecology, habitat restoration, and the critical need for international cooperation.

1.National Wilde Turkey Federation- The NWTF helps conservation efforts for the wild turkey to make sure they stay plentiful. The also assists in the habitat of the wild turkey.
ReplyDelete2. Ducks Unlimited- Ducks Unlimited helps with the conservation of all types of wild ducks. They assist with habitat building and even breeding.
3. International Hunting Education Association- IHEA helps with the instructing of hunters and how to properly hunt which is a major part of conservation.
Earth System Governance Project (ESGP)a long-term, interdisciplinary social science research programme developed under the auspices of the International Human Dimensions program on Global Environmental Change, and started January 2009. It will conclude in 2018.

Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change-is a scientific intergovernmental body under the auspices of the United Nations, set up at the request of member governments. It was first established in 1988 by two United Nations organizations, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and later endorsed by the United Nations General Assembly through Resolution 43/53. Membership of the IPCC is open to all members of the WMO and UNEP.
CI is a nonprofit environmental organization in Arlington, Virginia. The organization's mission is to protect nature, and it's biodiversity, for the benefit of humanity.

The Global Conservation Program (GCP) is a partnerhsip between USAID and six conservation organizations to conserve globally significant biodiversity.
The American Bison Society was founded in 1905 by pioneering conservationists and sportsmen to help save the bison from extinction. Over 40 million bison once roamed the plains and grasslands from Mexico to Central Canada, shaping the landscape with their migrations, grazing patterns, and behavior. By 1870 their populations had been decimated by westward expansion and over-hunting. A survey in 1884 showed that approximately 1,000 bison remained in North America. This organization raises money to create reserves for these massive animals and they also transport bison into places that have low populations.
ReplyDeleteThe American Eagle Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to Bald Eagle rehabilitation, recovery, and breeding programs. This organization was founded in 1985 by a group of wildlife experts and concerned citizens to help save the Bald Eagle. They use permanently injured Eagles in their care for education programs.
The Rainforest Partnership is a North American non-profit corporation based in Austin, Texas aimed to protect tropical rainforests. It's goal is to help rainforest communities become economically self-sufficient without deforestation, while educating communities in the United States about the role rainforests play in climate protection.

ReplyDelete2. International Crane Foundation- The International Crane Foundation (ICF) was established by founders George Archibald and Ron Sauey in 1973 on a horse farm in Baraboo, Wisconsin.
3. Royal Society for the Protection of Birds- The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) began in 1889 as an organization that opposed the inhumane use of exotic feathers in the fashion industry, particularly the use of exotic plumes to adorn the women's hats that were so much in vogue at the time.
NWTF- they are located in the united states they conserve the life and the harvest of wild turkeys in the united states. they have different farms all over the us growing and researching turkeys
ReplyDeleteQDMA (quality deer management association) - they conserve the deer population and teach others how to conserve there deer population by feeding, harvesting, and poaching other peoples deer (lol) they gave almost a million dollars last year to fund deer research and feed research
PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) - are a bunch of tree huggers who do not believe in the harvesting of animals or mistreatment of animals, they believe if your coon dog doesnt tree a coon than you should give it a treat instead of hittin that shock collar one time
Conservation is the act of preserving, guarding, or protecting; wise use. The science of protection of biodiversity protection and prevention of wildlife.

Natural Resources Defense Council-
The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is a superb complement to any portfolio of conservation organization memberships. The NRDC is an environmental action organization that consists of 350 lawyers, scientists, and other professionals and commands a membership of about 1.3 million people. The NRDC uses the law, science, and their wide network of members and activists to protect wildlife and habitats around the globe.

ReplyDeleteToday, the RSPB has over 1 million members with a network of 12,200 volunteers all devoted to the protection of birds. The RSPB protects and restores habitat for birds and other wildlife, conducts recovery projects, researches problems facing bird populations, works with landowners and farmers to protect birds, and manages 200 nature reserves.

The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) is another superb group working for the protection of animals and wildlife. The WCS supports zoos and aquariums while promoting environmental education and conservation of wild populations and their habitats.3.The International Crane Foundation
